Rurik made his way to the main room of his lair and stood in front of Glov with his hands on his hips, staring up at the green Dragon.

He then told him what he found at Mahesh’s home and the events that followed.

“So, you believe that the Witches are hunting for Dragon lairs?”

“Yes, I believe Strolguil has joined with a coven to increase his power, using them to help him gain it more easily.” Glov nodded, but his face was screwed into a cringing frown. “I do not know if this is for a special reason or not since he has been set on power from the beginning.”

“And he has already shown the others how to use Dragon parts.”

“They are coming from the direction I fought with him last. Have you visited Borlag? His caves are not far from where I fell.”

It was where he would have gone if Amalia hadn’t taken him in.

With a shake of his head, Glov said, “No, I have been too preoccupied with this to visit him since it is so far away.”

“I fear he may already be dead. Although he is known for being slithery, he still may have been caught unaware.”

“It is unlikely he has been killed. His lair is difficult to enter. Only those who can fly can access the entrance.”

Rurik pointed a finger at him. “You forget that Strolguil has been using his own father’s stolen wings for eons.”

With a sigh, Glov sat and pawed at his face.

“If you truly believe they are heading this way looking for our kind, then the Elders have already told me they wish for those along their path to not be alone.”

Rurik crinkled his features into a face of disgust.

“I will not have others parading around inside my tunnel because they fear I am unsafe. I am the WitchSlayer, after all. I just fought a coven and returned.”

“I told them you may act like this if you were here when I returned. It took some convincing, but they have agreed to leave you be as long as I check in on you every so often. They also do not want others near your... Witch.”

“What are you, some messenger raven for them now? Do not annoy me, simply lie to them that you have seen me.”

“It would seem that way for now, unfortunately. If that is what you wish, then I will check on you only when I have information. I would much prefer to not have my face clawed again.” Then he eyed Rurik’s small body. “Why are you human? I have not seen this form in many decades.”

“I needed to show the Witch something.”

Yeah, my cock. He wouldn’t tell him that, though.

He didn’t shift since he wanted to stay this way so he could hunt Amalia down when Glov left. Hopefully she will have started healing.

“I am surprised to find that you are not enraged considering your failure.” Rurik gave a small, growling huff in response to his words. “The last time you were defeated by Strolguil, I could not approach your cave for weeks.
